What is Post-Industrial Recycled Flooring and how is SWF different from other eco-friendly hardwood flooring companies.

Nearly 40 years ago we started producing the world’s most ecological wood flooring product, with the goal of producing the finest wood floors in the world. We decided to take it our sustainable goals a step further to utilize our post-industrial waste and create a more accessible product. Taking our extensive knowledge of luxury woodworking and forestry, we developed a revolutionary wood floor construction, which is superior to any wood flooring made to date. Eliminating the tongue and groove, as well as numerous trade secrets and patents, allow SWF to manufacture floors that have no limitations in design and provides clients with a floor that is stable year-round and able to withstand extreme moisture conditions.

  • SWF are made from Post Industrial Waste solid hardwood from USA .

  • The highest quality sustainable hardwood lumber is used in the manufacturing of every product.

  • State of the art, straight edge glued-down construction, not ancient tongue and groove construction is utilized.

  • Life expectancy of our product is a minimum of 100 years.

  • There is no need for the wasteful use of a plywood subfloor, it can be glued directly to concrete, cork etc.

  • Preassembled tiles make for a quick, easy and precise installation. Installation time is over 3 times faster than unfinished plank flooring.

  • Comes with a transparent tape on the top of the tiles which protects the floor at construction sites.

  • Any drastic changes in the relative humidity will cause T&G flooring to change in its dimensional size that is why T&G floors constantly change during the seasons, cupping and warping is commonplace and if water gets on a T&G floor it will either be badly damaged or destroyed. SWF floors are designed to be installed in extreme conditions and can handle much more humidity than T&G hardwood floors.

Advantages of SWF v. T&G Hardwood Flooring

We designed a better floor.

utilizing a glue down system swf has more than double usable thickness

Usable Thickness

Tongue and groove flooring can only be sanded to the groove. Once the floor is sanded to the groove it must be replaced. With an average height thickness of 3/4” (19mm), T&G floor has only 2/16” (3mm) of usable material. Utilizing a unique glue down system, SWF’s height of 7/16” (11mm) has 5/16” (8mm) of usable thickness, an increase of more than double, allowing for more refinishing and durability.

Water Resistance

Straight edge flooring is more resistant to moisture and water damage. The construction of the material is held together by a high-tech adhesive, which has a moisture barrier in it. When the glue is applied to the subfloor, it goes in between each piece to bond the tile together, creating a monolithic floor that can withstand higher moisture levels. The floor is ready to be sanded and finished the next day.
